Cool box comparisons for your camping trip

Cool box comparisons for your camping trip

Cool box: compressor, thermoelectric or absorber?

If you really want to camp properly, you will of course need a cool box to keep your food and drinks cool. Here too, there are different types of appliance, all with certain advantages and disadvantages, although only a compressor cooler really delivers the best results.

The advantages of a compressor cooler:

On the one hand, it is very energy-efficient, which is particularly important if you want to minimize the load on the battery and get by for a few days without an external power supply.

Our compressor cooler „Dometic CF 35“ has a high-quality finish and is therefore more durable than a cheap cool box.

Another plus point for the compressor cooler is that it can be cooled to the desired degree Celsius, even down to -18° degrees, whereas absorption coolers can only cool to 20° degrees below the outside temperature. At 36° degrees in summer, this means 16° degrees warm butter, which nobody needs.

The most important point, however, is the voltage monitor built into the Dometic CF35. This ensures that the cooler switches off automatically when the battery voltage is low in order to prevent deep discharge of the battery. An absorption or thermoelectric cooler always runs the risk of draining the battery completely in just a few hours and reducing its service life.

The only disadvantage of the compressor cooler is the higher purchase price compared to the cheaper coolers. But if you're really looking for something high-quality, durable, safe and, above all, functional to keep your beer and sausages cool, there's no getting around a compressor cooler.
