As a manufacturer of both kitchen variants, we are often asked which kitchen we recommend. Our favorite here is clearly the rear kitchen. We are happy to explain the advantages of each variant in this article.
The VanEssa rear kitchen:
We deliberately put the rear kitchen in the trunk because it's the perfect place for it.

The majority of campers prefer to travel in summer and when the weather is nice. This means they spend most of their time cooking outside. There is plenty of space in the trunk of the van for all kitchen utensils and food. This means that you don't need any more boxes to be stored in the vehicle, which can quickly become disorganized. Unpleasant smells, such as those from a barbecue, are kept outside.
The perfect complement to the kitchen is our Interior module, which offers storage space for your clothes. These should always be accessible from the inside and not end up in the trunk. First thing in the morning, regardless of the weather, you and your fellow travelers need fresh clothes before you get out of the car. And now imagine it rains all day and your clothes are in the trunk because the space inside is being used for the kitchen.
Two tables can also be configured on the fashion tower. In bad weather, take the stove and some dishes inside and put them in the cupboard. This means you only have to use the fridge or sink from time to time. Incidentally, you are also somewhat protected here by the tailgate and are not standing directly in the rain. If necessary, the interior module can be configured with a cooling box pull-out. In this case, you also have the option of transporting your cool box safely inside the vehicle.
With this solution, you are still perfectly equipped for bad weather with a rear kitchen.
Advantages:
- More storage space for kitchen utensils and food
- Convenient access, as cooking is usually done outside
- more space in the interior for clothes etc.
Suitable for: Trips to the south, day trips, trips alone, as a couple and especially for families
The VanEssa indoor kitchen:
Now the question remains for whom the Indoor kitchen is recommendable?
An indoor kitchen can be very practical for trips that tend to take place in the north (Scandinavia) or in winter, as you are rarely outside for breakfast etc. here. An indoor kitchen can also be practical for shorter weekend trips or day trips. Here too, it is important that your clothes are not in the trunk, but are accessible from the inside. Depending on the type of vehicle, we recommend using our panniers as additional storage space.

Advantages:
- Cooking regardless of the weather
- Complete load-through area (without seats / with single seat)
Disadvantages compared to the rear kitchen:
- Cooking causes odors that can linger
- Possible food splashes inside the vehicle, despite splash guard
- Limited storage space in the interior for clothes
Suitable for: Winter campers, trips to Scandinavia (to the north), sports excursionists, traveling alone or as a couple
